WEOL AM 930 & 100.3 FM is based in north-central Ohio with studios in downtown Elyria and transmitter in Grafton. WEOL was the first radio station in Lorain County, signing on-the-air on October 17, 1948, owned by the newly created Elyria-Lorain Broadcasting Company. On May 15, 1958, ELBC was purchased by the Lorain County Printing and Publishing Company, making it a wholly owned subsidiary. LCP&P

also owns the Chronicle Telegram newspaper in Elyria and the Gazette in Medina. Among the on-air personalities during the early days of AM 930; Dick Conrad, Ronnie Barrett, and Neil Zurcher. Through the years, WEOL played music of different varieties until November 28, 1997 when the format moved to news, sports and talk. Today’s line-up includes The WEOL Morning show with Bruce Van D**e and Craig Adams, syndicated talk with Dave Ramsey, Dr. Daliah, Doug Gottlieb and his friends at Fox Sports, and Jim Bohannon. Sports affiliations include the Cleveland Indians, the Cleveland Cavaliers, the Ohio State Buckeyes, the Columbus Blue Jackets, and Fox Sports Radio. Today’s line-up also features the most local play-by-play sports in the region including high school football, basketball, baseball and softball.

Proplank Flooring is headed to the Interleague Championship Game after rallying from a four-run deficit to defeat the Avon Mud Hens 12-8 on Tuesday.

Luis Morales delivered the biggest swing of the game with a three-run inside-the-park home run, helping seal the comeback victory and punch Elyria’s ticket to the championship.

Elyria Little League will face Avon Little League in the Interleague Championship Game on Thursday at 6 p.m. at Veterans Memorial Park (Field 4) in Avon.

Brett Larrick has stepped down from his position as Elyria's head boys basketball coach.

Congratulations to Coach Larrick on an outstanding run with the Pioneers. We appreciate him working with us so closely to follow and cover his incredible teams!

Elyria High School Varsity Boys Basketball Head Coach Larrick Resigns

After 27 years of coaching at Elyria High School, including the past 18 seasons as head coach of the varsity boys basketball program, Coach Brett Larrick has announced his decision to step down from his coaching position.

“After 18 years of leading this program (21 years total on the boys side) and 27 years coaching at Elyria High, I have decided to step down,” said Coach Larrick. “I want to thank my staff that has worked with me over the years and helped us to be so successful. Most importantly, I want to thank all the players for the memories and for allowing me to be a part of your basketball journey and life. This is a tough decision for me, but one that makes sense for my family and obligations we have moving forward.”

Reflecting on his career, Coach Larrick said, “My time at Elyria has been a dream. It was what I have always wanted to do. I have been so honored to lead this program and so grateful for all the players and the memories they helped create.”

During his tenure, Coach Larrick helped build a tradition of excellence within the Elyria basketball program. Thanks, Coach, for your years of dedication, leadership and commitment to the student-athletes of Elyria!

Elyria Next Frontier 12U picked up a 9-7 win over North Ridgeville’s Three Outs Academy Purple 12U on Tuesday.

After falling behind in the second inning, Next Frontier battled back and reclaimed the lead in the fifth to earn the victory.

North Ridgeville’s Rangers White 9U walked off Wellington’s HH Dukes Whitney 11-10 in a back-and-forth Class HH Hot Stove matchup on Sunday.

The Dukes erased an early deficit, rallied to take the lead in the sixth inning, and finished with 15 stolen bases before Rangers White answered in the bottom half for the win.

North Ridgeville’s 3 Outs Academy Czekaj picked up a 16-3 win over the Wellington Venom Spiders 8U on Saturday.

The game was tied in the second inning before 3 Outs Academy Czekaj pulled away with a big third inning and finished with 15 hits in the victory.

On Saturday, Elyria ProPlank Flooring 10U cruised past the Avon Trash Pandas 15-2.

At the time, it looked like just another strong performance.
