When we go searching, the universe provides direction… the question is whether we’re listening or not.
Today the universe gave me Ty. I was walking around hartford and he asked me about my camera, and we talked about how he wants to do black and white photography, and make art in the future.
As the conversation progressed and I complimented his vibe, he told me the story of how’s it a vibe centered in 9 years of homelessness, but that he just got an apartment and is looking for a job. The system is stacked against him, but he’s slogging away at next right steps.
I admired his decision not to be resentful towards the universe, and he said that’s a new development - he then showed me the scar on his neck from a su***de attempt a year ago.
He said something to the effect of “life is beautiful though!”, and I had to ask him what changed in the last year, and he said one word - attitude.
The sentiment that followed was beautiful - this is admittedly a memory and not a perfect quote.
“We all have to hit our rock bottom to see how beautiful life is, I hit mine, you’ve hit yours, mine may sound intense to you, but they’re all the same. Don’t diminish your rock bottom as privileged, it’s all the same. You’re figuring yourself out, and I’m figuring myself out.”
We talked a bit about his next steps to get a birth certificate (difficult being adopted), and try to get a consistent job. I asked if there was any way I could help, and he confidently said no, he’s figuring it out.
The conversation was so special, and I’m so grateful for the time to be present with him.
Thank you Ty. You’re beautiful, I believe your life is already an art piece, but I can’t wait to see what your future holds.
