🦦 Otter This World: Meet Splash, the Search-and-Rescue Superstar!

Move over K9s, there’s a new hero in town! Back in April, Englewood REVIEW introduced you to Splash, the wonder otter from Peace River K9 Search and Rescue (PRSAR), and he’s been making waves ever since.

From stealing the spotlight at the North Port Hurricane Expo to becoming a viral sensation, Splash is proving that search-and-rescue comes in all shapes and sizes. While PRSAR is known for their incredible human and dog teams, Splash is their "secret weapon," tackling missions and terrain that even seasoned K9s can’t crack.

We are so proud of the creative and tireless work the PRSAR volunteers do to bring missing loved ones home. Splash isn't just a cute face—he’s a life-saver!

Florida health officials are urging caution as rising coastal water temperatures increase the risk of Vibrio vulnificus bacteria, with five cases already reported by late May.

The bacteria, which can cause dangerous infections from raw shellfish or contact with brackish water, thrives in the state's warm coastal environments, prompting warnings for swimmers to protect open wounds.

Most people never get sick from Vibrio vulnificus. Still, when the infection hits, it can escalate quickly, especially for people with liver disease or weakened immune systems, or if they are healing from a wound or tattoo.
