Apparently, I have a LOT of new people around here, so I figured I should say hello and tell you a little about who you just stumbled upon.
I’m Stephanie, we are the South Family, and this is South Moves West.
I’m a Southern girl who moved to Colorado 2 years ago with my husband, Tommy, to become a ministry family. We’ve been together 30 years and have two adult daughters who live in other states.
And then there’s Christopher. ♥️
Christopher is our 6-year-old son. He is autistic, nonverbal, and absolutely adorable. He experiences the world differently than most of us, and a huge part of my life is learning to see through his eyes, advocate for him, celebrate his wins, and sometimes just survive the hard days.
And then, about five minutes ago in internet time, there was Ben. 😂🐾
Ben is our golden retriever puppy, brought into our family specifically to be Christopher’s companion. We had no idea what their relationship would look like… and then they met.
And apparently the internet decided it needed to watch. 👀
So if you’re new here because you saw Christopher and Ben playing, welcome. ♥️
You’ll probably see a lot of them.
You’ll also see Colorado, motorcycles, mountains, family, ridiculous puppy stories, motherhood, autism, adventures, the occasional exhausted “WHAT IS IN YOUR MOUTH?!” and more dog hair than any human should reasonably tolerate.
I don’t have a perfectly curated life, and I’m not trying to create one.
I’m just sharing ours.
Sometimes it’s beautiful. Sometimes it’s chaotic. Sometimes it’s really hard. And sometimes a golden retriever changes everything in ways we never expected.
I don’t know where this journey with Christopher and Ben is going.
But apparently, a lot of you are here for the ride.
So… welcome to South Moves West.
