"You can't just listen to hip hop and rap music, you have to listen to a little classical, too," said Jackie Connor, of Erie's Historic Preservation board. "We want the mix and variety that the historic landmarks contribute to our town's progress."

Erie's latest landmark is setting the tone for a future that preserves the past. The Board of Trustees during a meeting last week designated Town Hall as Erie's third local landmark, following the recommendation of the Historic Preservation Advisory Board .

In five years, there's a potential gain of 3,754 students for a total of 33,771, said Scott Toillion, St. Vrain's planning director. Those numbers, he said, could push some schools over 125 percent of capacity — the point when the district looks at building new schools or additions.
