It’s Allan. Friday is here! But, unfortunately, the snow is still here as well. Roads and streets are snow covered and slippery, so take it easy.

PennDOT has reduced speeds to 45 mph on the following routes: I-79 from the I-90 interchange to its northern end, I-86 from the I-90 interchange to the New York state line, and I-90 from the I-79 interchange east to the New York state line. On highways with speed restrictions in place, commercial vehicles not otherwise restricted must remain in the right lane.

Hang in there. I’ll talk to you at 3.

It Allan. As you no doubt know, we’re expecting some serious lake effect snow today. Right now, PennDOT has temporarily reduced the speed limit on Interstate 79 from Exit 141 (Route 285, Geneva/Cochranton) in Crawford County to the Erie County line.

That means:

• Speed limit reduced to 45 mph
• Commercial vehicles must stay in the right lane
• PennDOT urges motorists to avoid unnecessary travel

Crews have been treating roadways, but conditions will remain challenging. Roads may be passable, not perfect, and could still be icy and snow-covered. PennDOT will continue treating throughout the storm until precipitation ends and roads improve.

I’ll keep you posted with weather and traffic updates as the snow falls. Be safe and take it easy out there.

It’s Allan. If you live in Chautauqua County, or are thinking about heading up there in the next day or two, this is important: Chautauqua County officials are continuing a Travel Advisory for all of Chautauqua County as a prolonged lake effect snow event, strong winds, and blowing snow continue to impact the region.

This Travel Advisory, issued through 7:00 a.m. Thursday, January 1st is not a ban on travel. It is a strong recommendation that residents avoid unnecessary travel and consider delaying trips until conditions improve. Those who must travel should be prepared for rapidly changing and hazardous conditions.

Stay safe out there.

Allan with an update. Presque Isle State Park officials have closed the park due to the high winds and resulting falling trees and limbs, as well as general concern for public safety during the storm. The park will remain closed through this evening.

So if you’re thinking about a nice walk on the Peninsula, maybe hold off until…I don’t know…June?

It’s Allan with some travel restrictions to be mindful of…because of the extreme high winds, PennDOT has temporarily banned certain vehicles on Interstates 86 and 90. The restrictions apply to I-86 from the I-90 interchange to the New York state line, and I-90 from the Ohio state line to the New York state line. Basically, it means no motorcycles, RV, trailers, or empty semi trucks allowed due to the strong winds.

But really, if you’re going out on your motorcycle this morning, I’m not sure what to tell you. 🏍️

It’s Allan. As we hunker down for yet ANOTHER winter storm, just a reminder that the high winds we’re already experiencing means you’ll have to deal with downed limbs and magical flying trash cans this morning. There are reports of limbs and power lines down in Girard as well as the Hershey Road area.

I’ll keep you posted about power outages, weather events, etc. Stay safe out there.

It’s Allan. Hope your Sunday plans don’t include a lot of travel, because it is SLICK out there. PennDOT has temporarily reduced the speed limit to 45 mph on all interstates in the northwest region due to ongoing winter weather conditions.

Motorists traveling on Interstates 79, 80, 86, 90, and 376 will encounter reduced speed limits as PennDOT works to keep roads passable during the storm. The department advises avoiding unnecessary travel and reminds drivers that roads may not be completely free of ice and snow despite treatment efforts.
