Every day in the United States 300,000 women, men and children are trafficked into the s*x trade. Criminals are turning more and more to human trafficking and the reason is simple economics. While drugs and weapons may only be sold once, a human being may be sold thousands of times.

Trafficking victims who manage to survive this s*xual and emotional trauma are then re-traumatized by a society that offers little to no help rebuilding their lives. Jacqueline and other survivors like her are not lazy moochers who want to suck the system dry. They, like everyone else, want gainful employment that will allow them even the most basic necessities, such as basic shelter, food, and access to medical care services. Without the ability to get a job due to an unexpunged prostitution record from when they were minors, plus ongoing health problems as a result of being s*x trafficked, most survivors can't even get a minimum wage job to pay for these basic needs.

They are then forced to rely on the kindness of others who are more fortunate then they are in the form of fundraisers like this one.

Jacqueline Homan (s*x trafficking survivor) is seeking donations for repairs on her home so that she can provide shelter and job training to other survivors.

So, for those looking forward to it, the next issue won't be coming out until the next quarter, in January. I don't have enough articles for a full issue right now. Anyone and everyone can submit an article. If you're not sure about a topic, just ask :-) I'm willing to help anyone along with any steps of the writing and editing process.

I'm also looking for volunteer columnists who will submit an article on a certain topic for each issue of the Sun. Columnists will get their own feature on the first page or two of the Sun, and the eternal gratitude of the Editor in Chief of the Proletarian Sun!

Good news! Although the Proletarian Sun has been on hiatus for several months it is being brought back! The Sun will now be a quarterly newsletter. Anyone can submit an article to [email protected]. I still have a few articles that have been submitted since it went on hiatus, and I am planning on getting back to the writers with edits within the next few days. After the next issue, coming out in the middle of April, the format for the Proletarian Sun may change into a more blog-type format, with a new editor or team or editors. With the new format, any time a person submits an article, the fully edited and approved version will be published immediately on a blog, rather than in the newsletter format we have been using. Does anyone have thoughts or suggestions?
