Kirk Cameron says that “the more that I’ve studied church history” and “the scriptures,” the more convinced he has become that “it’s pretty safe to say that I’ve left behind ‘Left Behind.’” While the host agrees that “there are things that matter so much more than our views on eschatology,” he argues that end-times beliefs can still have significant influence because they may shape how people “craft policy,” including U.S. “foreign policy toward Israel,” depending on whether someone embraces “dispensationalism or not.”
Cameron said he “never even connected the dots” that a popular end-times narrative—“a book… a movie… a fiction book”—could influence what people assume “that’s really going to happen because that’s what the Bible says.”
He pointed to Israel being “involved in wars” and the United States being “tied in… militarily and financially,” warning that such views can help drive real-world decisions that may “result in… people going to war.”
He emphasized that this is not “conspiracy tin foil hat stuff,” calling it “real” and adding that “we’ve got to think through these things
