The New Episode is Here!

There’s a quiet tension in modern shooting culture: we’ve never had more access to advanced techniques, yet many shooters still struggle with the basics.

At some point, speed became the focus. Faster draws, faster splits, faster everything. But speed has a way of hiding problems—until it doesn’t.

This week’s discussion looks at an older idea with some staying power: slowing down and shooting like it’s 1955. Not out of nostalgia, but as a way to rebuild the fundamentals that everything else depends on.

Everyday Carry and Mental Preparedness

Good marksmanship and a reliable sidearm are staples of our shooting heritage, but as we discuss in GunsPodcast.US episode #239, the most critical tool in your arsenal sits right between your ears. Roy Huntington dives into the What If game, a time-honored practice among seasoned law enforcement and responsibly armed citizens.

As you go about your day, whether driving or walking through a mall, take a few seconds to visualize a sudden threat. Ask yourself, what would you do if a guy with a gun stepped onto the escalator? Running these mental drills builds a tactical reflex. When chaos hits, your brain recognizes the scenario because you have already solved it in your mind. It is the difference between freezing in shock and taking decisive action to protect your family. Episode Link in the Comments.

Question of the Day: How often do you actively practice situational awareness when you are unarmed or in non-permissive environments?
