📣 City of Española Announcement
At Tuesday’s meeting, the Governing Body approved moving forward with the utilization of $1 million in funding for much-needed improvements at the Richard L. Lucero Recreation Center. The facility was originally constructed in 1974
These upgrades will include:
• Replacement of the roof
• Installation of new HVAC equipment
• Updates to the shower facilities
This investment allows the City to enhance and preserve the largest recreational center in the region, ensuring it remains a safe, functional, and welcoming space for our community.
The funding was secured during the 2025 Legislative Session, thanks to the strong support of Senator Leo Jaramillo and Representative Susan Herrera.
This initiative reflects the City’s continued commitment to our youth and expanding recreational access, providing improved facilities that support healthy lifestyles and community engagement.
