On October 10, 2025, at approximately 8:31 PM, the Burlington Police were called to City Market for a report of a suspect who had been stealing from the store. The suspect reportedly had pulled a knife on the caller and threatened to stab them when confronted about the theft. Officers arrived on the scene, reviewed video footage, and aired a description of the suspect to assisting officers. The suspect was located a short time later across the street from City Market. The male was observed by officers to be armed with a knife in his waistband. The suspect refused commands to surrender and fled. Officers pursued the suspect on foot and eventually caught them. The suspect resisted arrest; officers had to use force to take the suspect into custody. The suspect was found to have two knives on their person and continued to be combative, spitting on two officers. The suspect was identified as Ezra Dillon (34 YOA). Dillon was lodged at the Northwest Correction Facility (NWCF) on $5,000.00 bail. He is being charged with assault and robbery, resisting arrest, and two counts of assault on a protected professional: assault with bodily fluids. Dillon has a recent conviction for assault and robbery with a weapon, which stemmed from a 2023 incident.

🚨 Incident Report – Fatal Motor Vehicle Crash on Silver Street 🚨

On the evening of Saturday, October 4 at 7:41 PM, the Hinesburg Fire Department (HFD) was dispatched to Silver Street for a report of a motor vehicle crash involving fire.

At the time, Hinesburg Engine 1 was actively engaged at a significant brush fire in Williston, but was able to respond directly from that scene. Additionally, two HFD firefighters stationed at the firehouse to provide town coverage during the Williston incident responded immediately and arrived on scene within minutes.

Upon arrival, crews discovered two vehicles involved:
- A pickup truck fully involved in fire
- A sedan with significant damage

A passing Milton firefighter bravely intervened and was able to pull the male driver from the burning pickup just before the vehicle became fully engulfed. According to a Vermont State Police media release, the female driver of the sedan was pronounced deceased at the scene by emergency personnel.

Charlotte Rescue was the first arriving ambulance and transported the male victim with significant injuries. Once the fire was extinguished, the scene was turned over to the Vermont State Police for investigation. Firefighters remained on scene with the road closed until shortly before midnight.

We extend sincere gratitude to our mutual aid partners, including those who responded from the fire in Williston to our scene:

Monkton Fire Department
Charlotte Rescue
Richmond Rescue
Essex Town Fire Department
Williston Fire Department

Special thanks to the Shelburne Communications Center dispatchers, who expertly managed both this crash and the ongoing Williston brush fire with professionalism and care.

This was an incredibly tragic scene, and our hearts go out to all those affected. We are deeply grateful to have had personnel in the firehouse available for a rapid response, and we especially commend the courageous bystander/first responder for their actions.

Burlington Police Department press release

On October 3, 2025, at approximately 6:33 PM, the Burlington Police Department was called to the area of Church Street and College Street. Members of the Burlington Fire Department (BFD) had requested assistance with an aggressive male who was impeding them as they were on a medical call. It was later determined that the male had purposely prevented a BFD fire truck from leaving the area by using his vehicle to block the way and had also expelled saliva onto a firefighter as he was yelling at him. Officers responded to the area and located the suspect, identified as Daniel Jaffe-Suggs. Jaffe-Suggs was confrontational with officers on the scene. Jaffe-Suggs subsequently ignored commands and drove away from officers, south on Markhams Lane, east onto Thorsen Way, and south onto Church Street. This area of Church Street is closed to motor vehicles, and it was busy with pedestrian foot traffic. Officers deployed a tire deflation device on the vehicle in an attempt to prevent it from operating on Church Street. It continued to flee despite having at least one flat tire. Jaffe-Suggs led officers on a vehicle pursuit through the city. Officers ultimately arrested Jaffe-Suggs after his tire came off the rim on I-89, and he pulled over at exit 13 southbound. Jaffe-Suggs is being charged with disorderly conduct and grossly negligent operation.
