The combined devastation of the Caloosahatchee River blue-green algae bloom and the Gulf of Mexico sustained red tide are taking a toll on the waters of Southwest Florida. Pelican Media has taken to the skies to document the toxic conditions that now plague the area. WGCU Public Media, CBS Evening News and groups like Calusa Waterkeeper, SCCF and the Conservancy of Southwest Florida have used our footage to help bring light to this environmental catastrophe.

Yesterday, I volunteered with the staff to monitor seagrass beds in Estero Bay. Seagrass is very important to the health of the bay and constant monitoring will help identify problem areas and activities.
