One spot, three seasons, all within three months. Can you believe these photos were taken just a month apart from each other?

Nature’s ability to transform so quickly, yet also stay the same, is nothing short of magic.

Which Month is your favorite and why?

I’m partial to the snowy season for this hike, so I can walk across the lake!

While hiking to Mills Lake in Rocky Mountain National Park, I came across a group of women and stopped to ask if I could take their photo. It’s not often I see groups made up entirely of women, and I’m so glad I did because they introduced me to a program I hadn’t heard of before!

These women were part of The Bettie Course, a program created to empower women to explore the outdoors, build connections, and learn about conservation efforts. I had the privilege of speaking with Katie, the course leader, who shared that this was her 8th Bettie hike this season.

What amazed me most was that these women had only just met that day. It’s incredible to see how Bettie’s legacy—through her research and passion for conservation—continues to make an impact, inspiring women to connect, explore, and protect the natural world.

You can find upcoming events at Rocky Mountain Conservancy

We Stood in the Same Spot - Ouzel Falls Edition

I love getting to meet the people this hike brings. People from all over the country.

Friends, mother / daughter, husband / wife. Some here for the first time, some experienced RMNP hikers. Each person and each hike is unique, but we’re all connected through this spot.

Photos from June - September. What a difference a few months make with the amount of water at the waterfall.
