Back in August while conducting a tour for RMNPhotographer-Estes Park, I took my guests to an area where we were bound to see elk preparing for the rut.

After sparring for quite some time, these 2 bull elk decided to take a rest. As I watched them, I noticed them suddenly become quite vigilant focusing their attention to my right. How dare something or someone interrupt their hard-won time to rest!

To my right I heard some noises and observed this doe veering away from the elk. It then saw me, course-corrected, and then effortlessly bounded across the stream and into the woods.*

As was I, several creatures were very impressed with her agility. Including 3 younger bulls spectating nearby. Most astonished seemed to be a marmot who observed from a safe place.

I guess if I saw me I frolicking in the woods, I too would course-correct.....quickly.*
