WORLD| Nigeria - Eight of the 100 school girls kidnapped by Boko Haram Islamic militants in Nigeria are still missing. Rescue groups continue searching the forests near the schools for the remaining girls.

WORLD| South Korea - Almost 300 people are still trapped inside a South Korean ferry that capsized Wednesday. The South Korean Coast Guard is pumping air into the five-story ferry as rescue efforts continue.

US| Boston - Boston police used controlled explosions to destroy two suspicious backpacks near the Boston Marathon finish line Tuesday night. It was determined neither contained explosives.

MONEY| Oklahoma - Oklahoma’s Gov. Mary Fallin signed a law Monday prohibiting state businesses from raising the minimum wage, in direct opposition to the federal mandate supported by President Obama.

MONEY| Retail - Data from Economic Modeling Specialists Intl. shows an increase in the efficiency of traditional and online retail markets resulting in effectively no job growth since 2001, despite sales increasing over 50%.

TECH| Phones - To slow the nearly two million cell phone thefts per year, smartphone manufacturers and carriers have pledged to install a kill switch, which would remotely disable stolen phones.

WORLD| Flight 370 - The search for Flight 370 moves under the sea Tuesday as Australian authorities prepare to use a robotic search vehicle to find the source of suspected black box recorder pings heard last week.

WORLD| Ukraine Conflict - Pro-Russian groups in three eastern Ukrainian cities seized state buildings on Monday and declared themselves independent republics in moves that mirror the events in the Crimea. Ukrainian authorities fear Putin will use the demonstration as prelude to additional annexation.

US| WA Mudslide - The Washington state mudslide death toll has risen to 33, with 12 people still missing, as authorities continue clearing away the slushy mountain of rock, mud and debris.

US| Louisiana - Congressman Vince McAllister (Louisiana-R) apologized after a video revealed him kissing a married staff member last December in his office. "I'm very sorry for what I've done," said the congressman.

MONEY| HFT - Although high-speed trading has caught the attention of the U.S. Justice Department, traders consider the dark market, trades conducted away from the stock exchange, potentially more harmful. Roughly 40% of trades occur in the dark market.

SCIENCE| Internet - Maryanne Wolf, author and neuroscientist, linked increased online skimming and scanning to the decay of in-depth reading skills among adults as well as teens.

ENTERTAINMENT| Movies - Disney revealed filming for the hotly-anticipated 'Star Wars: Episode VII' has begun, although casting is incomplete. J.J. Abrams directs the film, scheduled for release in December 2015.

ENTERTAINMENT| TV - HBO's online streaming service, HBO GO, crashed Sunday after a flood of users logged in to watch the season premiere of the popular 'Game of Thrones' TV show.

HEALTH| Autism - Chili's restaurant canceled a fundraiser for the National Autism Association (NAA) after discovering the NAA promotes the "link" between childhood vaccinations and autism.

HEALTH| Obesity - A study released Monday by JAMA Pediatrics revealed that "all classes of obesity have increased over the last 14 years," and that severe obesity among children has more than doubled since 1999, increasing their risk of high blood pressure, high cholesterol and type 2 diabetes as adults.

Supreme Court - The U.S. Supreme Court eliminated individual restrictions on campaign donations Wednesday in a 5-4 decision, allowing donors to contribute the maximum amount to an unlimited number of candidates in a two-year cycle.

GM - CEO Mary Barra failed to explain why the switch indent plunger, a 57-cent part responsible for 13 deaths and the recall of 2.6 million GM vehicles, was not replaced on GM vehicles, despite the company’s knowledge of its failure.
