Background.
Euclid, Ohio sits on the shores of Lake Erie, east of Cleveland. The city of 52,000 residents marks the eastern boundary of Cuyahoga County and is home to the National Polka Hall of Fame and the Softball Hall of Fame, among other attractions.
History:
Euclid was one of the first communities established in the Connecticut Western Reserve. The town, at first, was considered more desirable than nearby Cleveland, but the construction of the Ohio-Erie Canal sealed Cleveland's future.
Euclid was where Charles Brush created the first arc lamp in 1876 and where George Sweigert created the first cordless telephone in 1969.
Demographics:
According to the 2010 U.S. Census, Euclid Ohio has 48,920 residents. A minority(36.3%) are married (39.7% live in single-person households)and a majority are white (66.3%). The median age in Mentor is 39 years old and the median household income is $35,151.
