Gloria Steinem, one of the most influential voices in the women's rights movement, has died at age 92. She helped shape generations of advocacy for equality and opportunity.

Gloria Steinem, the indefatigable feminist and journalist whose activism revolutionized the personal and professional lives of women, has died. She was 92.

Steinem “passed away peacefully at her home in New York City, surrounded by some of the many who loved her,” a post on her official Instagram page said Thursday. It added that she had died on Wednesday.

“Gloria’s near-century on earth were years well-lived, and she continued working for equality until the very end,” the post said. It did not say how she died.

A pioneer of the 1960s’ era of second-wave feminism, Steinem dedicated her life to causes ranging from reproductive freedom and domestic violence prevention to workplace gender inequalities.

This week's devastating losses continue--the iconic voice of Transformers Optimus Prime, Peter Cullen has passed away.

Sad news of the death of another icon--Tim Curry. We had the chance to meet him a few years ago & he was so gracious & appreciative of all of the love & support he has gotten throughout the years.😢 ~ Chadd & Kristi

Tim Curry, who soared to fame in the ‘70s as the flamboyant star of“The Rocky Horror Show," has died at 80.

A cause of death was not immediately available, though Curry had suffered from several health issues since having a severe stroke in 2012.
