Simple rules - don't be a jerk, turn your porch light on, hand out candy. Easy! Some people take it too far and are rude to kids who they feel are too old, or they do not have a costume. Let kids be kids and enjoy the night. If you can't do that, then turn your porch light off and go back to being a crotchety old person.

Halloween is my favorite holiday of all time. I want to reward kids that dress up and brave the night to get free treats, see our decorations, and embrace a holiday that is much different than the rest. No shade on the houses that give out full size candy bars, those are fantastic. In our house, we do bags of candy with at least 12 pieces (chocolate and gummy style) included. Let's go big and keep this tradition alive and well!

These are the best books I have read this year. Whether it is a great mystery like Whisper Man and Come With Me, an all too real end of the world scenario like Nuclear War, or a hilariously funny and unique book like Dungeon Crawler Carl, this year has been a solid year for reading. Note, not all books I read made the list. I may not have liked them, but authors work hard to create these books. I don't see the value in adding my negative, and subjective, opinion on their works.
