One arrest has been made in the deadly shooting that occurred at Chips Daiquiris in Eunice. On August 28, 2026, Dashawn Dricous Doyle, 23, Eunice, was taken into custody in Lake Charles, LA, without incident by the US Marshals Task Force with the assistance of the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office, pursuant to an arrest warrant issued by the 27th Judicial District Court in St Landry Parish. He is charged with Attempted Second Degree Murder and Principle to 2nd Degree Murder. This is still an active investigation. No other details will be released at this time. More charges and arrests are expected as the investigation progresses.

At approximately 12:30 a.m. this morning, officers with the Eunice Police Department responded to Sonic Drive-In on West Laurel Avenue in reference to an armed robbery that had just occurred and that the suspect was no longer on scene.
Upon arrival, officers immediately secured the scene and initiated a preliminary investigation. The investigation revealed that an unidentified suspect entered the business armed with a handgun wearing all black clothing, Avia shoes, and a black face mask. The suspect allegedly demanded that an employee surrender money from both the cash register and the business safe. The suspect fled the scene in a vehicle described as a dark colored SUV (no plate information) in an unknown direction after stealing approximately $300 in cash.

The investigation remains active and has been assigned to a Detective with the Eunice Police Department. Based on preliminary investigative findings, arrests are anticipated.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is urged to contact the Eunice Police Department at (337) 457-2626. Information provided by the public may assist investigators in identifying and apprehending the individual responsible.
