Paul began his radio career in the mid 70's, with a five hour weekly Saturday program featuring Louisiana recording artist, specializing more in our "local" musicians. Paul has received many other honors in the past few years for his contribution to the promotion and preservation of Louisiana music & culture. Some of the honors given him are...

* In 1996 Paul Marx was induc

ted into The Louisiana Hall of Fame for his efforts in years of dedication to the promotion and preservation of Louisiana music.

* October 1998 The CFMA (Cajun French Music Association) honored Paul Marx with a prestigious award for his contribution in preserving the Cajun language, music & culture.

* October 1999 The Louisiana Blues Hall Of Fame recognized Paul "for his extraordinary work in the preservation of Louisiana Music & heritage".

* April 2000 Paul Marx was presented the "CITIZEN OF THE YEAR" award by The Eunice Harmony Lodge.

* October 1998, Paul was crowned the Ville Platte Cotton Festival King.

* May 2000 The Louisiana Music Commission issued Paul Marx & KBON its highest honor of "MUSIC DECREE" for efforts in promoting Louisiana music.

* September 2000 Louisiana Governor M. and the state of Louisiana honored Paul with the "LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD" for his contribution to the preservation of Louisiana music.

*Jan 2002, Paul was inducted into the historical Erath Acadian Museum as a "Living Legend".

* Paul received the 2006 Louisiana Association of Broadcasters award recipient for "35 years of Distinguished Service in Broadcasting" (all those years promoting Louisiana musicians) and "The Golden Mike Award" (The highest honor paid to a broadcaster) for his dedication to promoting the state of Louisiana.

* November 2006, Paul was inducted into the Lake Charles chapter of the C.F.M.A. "Hall of Fame"

* Paul was honored in 2009 as the Grand Marshall of the Gueydan Duck Festival.

* October 2010, Paul was crowned the Basile Swine Festival King.

* January 2012, Paul was inducted into the State of Louisiana sanctioned LOUISIANA MUSIC HALL OF FAME. In 1997 Paul was able to bring a new frequency to the airwaves; KBON 101.1 FM. Being sole owner of KBON, Paul was able to put together his "DREAM COME TRUE" music format, being "Variety With A Louisiana Flavor". KBON's music format is about 80% Louisiana recording artist, in particular local Acadiana recording artists, in particular, Cajun, "Swamp Pop" & Zydeco.

DID YOU KNOW? By the 1960s all things Cajun were denigrated in the Lafayette, La. newspaper, The Daily Advertiser. In an editorial, the paper called for the end of Cajun music saying it was an embarrassment. Shortly thereafter, Dewey Balfa, a legendary Cajun fiddler, and his brothers were invited to perform at the 1964 Newport Folk Festival. It was a revelation to them that festival attendees were thrilled by their music, while many at home were ashamed. Dewey vowed to bring the sound of the audience back to Acadiana. Since that time, there has been a renaissance both of Cajun music and the Cajun French language in which the music is sung. LOUISIANA PROUD!!!

RAYNE, LA- DOTD announces that on Monday, December 15, the intersection of LA 35 & Standard Mill Rd., in Acadia Parish, will be converted from a two-way stop into a MULTI-WAY STOP intersection, weather permitting.

Prior to the conversion, message boards will be placed near the intersection to alert motorists of the upcoming change.

Another Sunday is upon us and KBON 101.1 takes over the airwaves with the best Cajun music around. Dimanche Matin Cadien brings the dancehall to you this morning. From 7-12 fiddles and accordions fill the airwaves and gets ya dancing through this Sunday Funday. After the show is done, grab the family and head out to La Poussiere and join us for another Cajun Family Sunday Funday from 2-5 with The Cajun Cousins and a whole lot of special guest.
