An Invitation to Decolonization Podcast

An Invitation to Decolonization Podcast A podcast about how to unlearn negative colonized thoughts and behaviors. What is a colonizer mentality? What’s the motivation? Money and power.

In this podcast I will be exploring how colonization has programmed society and people’s minds
to think in a colonizer mentality. The definition of colonization is the action of settling and establishing control over Indigenous people of that area. Through the process of decolonizing our minds, we can start critically thinking about which parts of our minds are innate and what has been intentiona

lly put there by the colonizer mentality. If people can learn to unlearn the narrative created by these settler-imposed systems that continue to oppress people of color. We’re looking at cultural, psychological, and economic freedom. But it doesn’t stop there. There is a grave danger in the metaphor of “decolonizing your mind,” because it can recreate this sense of “settler innocence.” This can prevent the actual ACT of decolonization. If we’re going to decolonize and have some kind of real change, one cannot just sit around and “domesticate the demands” of undoing colonialism. The focus needs to be on securing Indigenous Peoples futures and sovereignty to further discontinue this settler future where the settler decent continue to benefit from colonialism, even if they’re unaware of these settler privileges. It’s one thing to talk the talk but can you walk it? Through this podcast I will be interviewing people from all aspects of society including Indigenous Peoples from every Tribe in the Northern California region. The goal is to gain as much data and perspective while extending the voices of those who suffer the harsher consequences of colonialism.
