Great ball game last night.
Overall the play in the playoffs has lacked consistent fundamentals. Cutoffs missed, rundowns stink, base running sucks, situational hitting just ok. Pitching has been very good.

Here are some issues.
1. You cannot execute things you don't practice or do regularly
2. Guys don't practice much team concepts if at all after spring training and it shows up
3. We are dealing much more with an International mix of players with far different methods of the way they see things especially in pressure situations.
4. We have a group of HAAAAVAAD grads who think they rule the World who don't know s**t from shinola making crucial decisions.
5. We have gotten away from the core group of HS draft picks being the premier players with huge upsides and settled for an older more low ceiling/high floor player that are not going to make spectacular plays do to lack of pure athletic talent.
6. Managers are being told how to play the game instead of using instincts.
7. We are scouting using metrics and video not the eyeball test. Missing too many in the draft especially on make up.
8. Players making 100 million do not want to have team practice and will tell the manager to F off. The players are running the show and it's not great especially dealing with the huge influx of International players
9. American kids are coming out of college too old. Plus they rush them up they don't have to live the tough life of minor leaguers everything is pretty soft. We don't display a lot of toughness.
10. Baseball has become a country club sport. 12 year olds don't want to be coached. They have Coach Johnny who got drafted and played 1 year believing he's a guru or JC Johnny who played 2 years at East Bumble JC trying to teach skill sets.
11. Parents today and for many years do not want to build mental toughness. Anything hard they quit or point fingers. Epidemic of quitters and weak mental games.
12. College is not a great player development operation strictly because of time. Any arena where you are time trapped is not good. A kid with 3 years in the minors has 100's of more at bats and innings pitched than the same aged college kid.

In a nutshell it's not going to get better only worse. Less HS drafts, more international, more 24 year old low ceiling college kids.
It is what it is.

This week fall baseball has started at most colleges. The 1st thing I am seeing across my feed is these college teams having to raise money to field their programs. There is nothing wrong with the request however I find it amazing from an administrative position.
If I am a college especially private with higher tuition. We as a college have decided to implement intercollegiate sports. How do I justify not having the funding to operate a sports program in a professional manner without my student athletes having to go out and raise money like a high school program or a youth team?
Now I understand selling season tickets, signage, in game promotions and so on however to have kids out selling products or services to me shows a lack of institutional organization and planning. Not only do you want the kids to pay tuition (private school very expensive), books, fees, housing, meals etc. now you also want them to be lead cookie dough salesman and so on. Seems to me these schools need to operate like a minor league team, hire a staff that goes out to sell the product, market the product and execute branding in all sports in order to raise appropriate funds.
It's just a pet peeve to me that we are running some levels of college athletics like the local little league operation. It starts in the President's office and trickles down to the AD's office. Seems like a real lack of effort at the top to me.

Highly Competitive Travel Baseball is great. The watered down version I am currently seeing is awful. I was a big part of the travel baseball surge in the late 90's. I coached teams that some years had 7-10 draft picks on 1 team and every player signed a scholarship. In 2025 I don't see this model. I see 10% of the teams that fit this model.
I have thought about it long and hard. We have consulted with top college coaches and HS coaches on how to solve the problem. The transfer portal and new rules have really slowed the old model down. I think we have developed a product that is the most cost effective, efficient way to get competitive games, data/video, distribution to recruiters and allow Coaches to continue their player development programs.

HS Players with a full landscape of Video and Data are more likely to be recruited. College Coaches have 1,000's of transfers with data/video, 1,000's of JC players with data/video. HS programs have not had that ability until now. The Summer Baseball League will begin in Georgia in June 2026 with prominent HS programs in the State hosting Regional Divisions. GA Powers like Wayne Co, Loganville, Greenbrier, Habersham Central and others will host Division Play with full livestream and data command centers at each location. Players in the league will have a huge advantage in recruiting and..... coaches will have access to their players data and video for player development. It's a win/win for both players and programs to gain an edge on the competition. DM for more information on how you can participate. The league will consist of Upperclass/Varsity and JV Divisions. The League will host Divisions in:
Augusta
Savannah
SE GA
South GA
Central GA
East GA
S Atl
W. GA
NE Mountain
NW
Each Division will have 8 Teams. The JV Division will play inside the Division with possible crossover games. The Varsity Division will play a crossover schedule with other Divisions. Some of the States Top Power Programs are committed to join the league. The Cape Cod of HS Baseball has arrived. June 1st 2026 will be opening Day. In 2027 the league will expand to Florida and the Carolina's. In 2028 the league will add Texas, Arizona, California, Gulf Coast, Tennessee. Now HS players will have the opportunity to get valuable data and video along with great competition. The League will distribute data to every college in the nation.

Elevate Your College Football Tailgate with Oscar Triumph Ci**rs

I used to go to over 100 games a year however I have cut back quite a bit. I do see several MLB and MILB Games along with college games each year. Here's the difference in HS, College, MILB and MLB. Every player on the MLB stage can move. No slow footed slow twitch guys on the MLB Diamond this is #1. #2 the difference in the the level of defense and throwing accuracy at the MILB and MLB level is light years ahead of the HS and college levels.
Why? the kids at the professional level are taking thousands more ground balls during a season than HS and College. HS do not practice defense enough. Trent Mongero preaches and trains defense all the time. He's a good example of coaches that promote defense. If you cannot defend at a very high level you have no chance at the professional stage. Defense is learned skills that can be improved more than any other facet of the game by just practice. The Allen kid for the Braves is a defensive machine even though he's a small kid with only the ability to hit singles. He's playing everyday in the MLB because he defends at an elite level. Anyone can learn to play defense at least to a high college level. Kids go to hitting lessons, they go to pitching lessons but they never work on throwing accurately and defending. It's why the international players kill us on defense. They practice far more each day. You should field over 100 balls a day and throw 20-30 of those to practice accuracy. You have to learn to throw from all 3 arm angles and throw on the run. Fielding and throwing technique are learned traits even bad athletes can field the balls in their area. If you want to stand out with less tools: DEFENSE, DEFENSE, DEFENSE

Any baseball organization that says they can guarantee you an offer is full of crap. I have had over 500 players go on to play NCAA Baseball and over 100 drafted. You can guarantee two things: An Opportunity and maybe if you listen you will learn some things.
I keep seeing post this guy is the man and that guy is the man. It's a bunch of BS. They way you perform dictates. The only reason I had a great track record and people listen is because I was pretty good at seeing who would project physically and mentally at the end of the day it's all on the player.
