Evanston Writers Workshop EWW provides a safe and creative community to aid writers in achieving their writing goals, whatever they may be. If you write, we want you!

We provide our members with support and resources in the field of writing and in the publishing industry. Through weekly meetups, one-day and half-day workshops monthly, online classes, and an annual conference, Evanston Writers Workshop strives to be the best regional writing organization for the Chicagoland area and the Midwest. We target both beginning writers and seasoned professionals, and everything in between.

Join us August 28th for the Anatomy of a Screenplay workshop with Emmy Award Winner Chris Canaan

In this 2-hour workshop we’ll be working on dissecting the narrative: character, motivation, objective, and conflict, in the perameters of the three act structure.

Students are invited to bring in their story concepts to flesh out into a story with a clear begging middle and end.

Writing exercises will be part of the learning experience.

References to other films will be analyzed as examples of how great story telling is constructed.

Requirements: Familiariy wity “Casablanca” and “The Wizard of Oz."
