NEW! Love Will Lead Me Home: A Sixteen-Year-Old’s Near-Death Vision of Hope for Humanity by Reinee Pasarow with Anna Powers.

On March 25, 1967, sixteen-year-old Reinee Pasarow died. Clinically dead for almost an hour and then brought back to life by a determined family doctor, Reinee’s Near-Death Experience (NDE) is remarkable for the clarity and detail of the event—and because of its powerful spiritual message of hope and healing. Those who have had NDEs tend not to fear death, but look forward to returning to the place they feel is their true “home.” This is part of the essential message of this unforgettable memoir.

Now Available on Bahaibookstore.com! Open Wide the Doors: A Memoir of Faith, Hope and Freedom in Iran by Mahvash Sabet.

In March 2008, the Intelligence Bureau of Mashhad summoned Mahvash Sabet. She told her husband she would be back home in Tehran by the evening. She wouldn’t be released for ten years. The authorities would go on to arrest every other member of the Yárán-i-Irán, the community representatives for Iran’s most persecuted religious minority: the Bahá’ís.

Documenting Mahvash Sabet’s first ten months of incarceration, in Mashhad and later Evin Prison, Open Wide the Doors is a portrait of Iranian society behind prison walls. It thrums with compassion for Iran’s thieves, prostitutes, and even prison guards. If you keep your heart open, Sabet proves, no judge, interrogator or torturer can crush your soul.

There is a growing realization of the need to deepen our understanding of how mental health impacts individuals and communities. This book includes an essay that explores some of the latest scientific findings related to mental health and well-being and how these can be seen to relate to Bahá’í teachings and community life. Following the essay is a collection of quotations from the Bahá’í writings on understanding the self, and our physical and spiritual health. The Bahá’í writings emphasize our dual nature, as both spiritual and physical beings. It is hoped this book can serve as a source of guidance and a resource for individuals and communities wishing to deepen their understanding of mental and spiritual health from a Bahá’í perspective.

New Arrival! Birds Who Try Their Best by is a gentle and thoughtful book about learning to practice virtues every day.

Through simple poems and small everyday moments, these birds learn about kindness, patience, courage, honesty, gratitude, and many other virtues.

They are not perfect, and sometimes things go wrong, but they keep trying, learning, and growing together.

This book reminds children that virtues are not something we are born knowing. They are something we practice a little more every day, by the choices we make, the way we treat others, and the way we try again when things do not go our way.

This is the story of two young, newly married Bahá’ís, Ted and Joanie Anderson, who left the comforts of family and friends to pioneer to Whitehorse in the Yukon Territory, thereby becoming Knights of Bahá’u’lláh and a powerful teaching team. Over their 19 years in Whitehorse, they learned how to live when the temperature dropped as low as -72°F (-58°C), the winter nights were very long, and when their well ran dry and they had to get water delivered in buckets. At first, they were the only Bahá’ís there, but by the time they left, they had discovered over 400 golden hearts.
