“Richard had wandered deep into the dark forest. He was lost, but it didn’t feel that way to him. He walked dreamily, losing all sense of time. High above, through the green canopy of leaves, light entered the forest in shafts, shining in the morning mists. He walked deeper into the forest, unafraid. Richard felt as if he had entered a temple of the woods. He sank to the ground in a state of great happiness, a state called ecstasy. All his senses and feelings came alive. He was alone but felt the trees and all the living creatures he loved were embracing him.”
