On the way back from the Thunder Bay Film Festival which had 2 of our films in it I had a chance to stop at South Haven Lighthouse for a bit. Right around sunset with storm clouds moving in and ice on the Lighthouses. These are frame grabs from the video I shot. Enjoy.

We are honored to be chosen as one of the films for the upcoming Thunder Bay Film Festival in Alpena, Michigan. The festival happens this month January 23-25, 2026.

We have two films being shown, "Water is Life" and "The Sweetwater Seas in 100 Words". We are also part of the filmmakers talk on Saturday.

Every year Thunder Bay National Marine Sanctuary brings the world of cinema to Alpena! In January, northeast Michigan is treated to some of the most impressive ocean and Great Lakes films from around the world. Film screenings are complemented by social events, educational activities, and opportunities to meet filmmakers. More than 50 films will be shared over the weekend in three different locations.

The northern Lights appeared once again in the Chicago area so we headed down to Lighthouse beach to shoot some footage.. Lots of folks down at the beach as we all could see them with our eyes, but the camera always brings out more than our eyes can see. I was there with Christine Brode and Tom Maloney. Enjoy!

Last night I went to shoot this supermoon and Harvest moon with grasses in the foreground. As most photographers know the best time to shoot a full moon is the day before as you have almost 60 minutes before sunset which gives you enough for including the landscapes.

“Water is Life” our short film about the great lakes and the challenges they face.

Last week Anthony Ponce on Good Day Chicago interviewed me as we discussed the issues facing the Great Lakes and how the youth will become caretakers in the future. We discussed the screening of a portion of The Sweetwater Seas Documentary “Water is Life” film at the Michigan Maritime Museum’s Whisper’s Across the Water Film showcase.
