Today is the feast of St. John Henry Newman. He converted to Catholicism from Anglicanism when he knew it would be devastating to his career as a professor at Oxford. The Newman Center was named in his honor.

"To be deep in history is to cease to be Protestant."

"O most sacred, most loving heart of Jesus, thou art concealed in the Holy Eucharist, and thou beatest for us still....Thou art the heart of the Most High made man....Thy Sacred Heart is the instrument and organ of Thy love. It did beat for us. It yearned for us. It ached for our salvation. It was on fire through zeal, that the glory of God might be manifested in and by us....In worshiping thee I worship my incarnate God, my Emmanuel."

“God has determined, unless I interfere with His plan, that I should reach that which will be my greatest happiness. He looks on me individually, He calls me by my name, He knows what I can do, what I can best be, what is my greatest happiness, and He means to give it me.”
-St. John Henry Newman

"I look to all of you to confidently take up the Rosary once again and rediscover the treasure hidden in the power of the Rosary prayer. May this appeal of mine not go unheard! Pray the Rosary daily."
-Father Benny Chacko

"The rosary has a way of leading us more and more deeply into the life of Jesus Christ."
-Father Ryan Hilderbrand

"The rosary is the book of the blind, where souls see and there enact the greatest drama of love the world has ever known; it is the book of the simple, which initiates them into mysteries and knowledge more satisfying than the education of other men; it is the book of the aged, whose eyes close upon the shadow of this world, and open on the substance of the next. The power of the rosary is beyond description."

“The Rosary is psychologically one of the greatest prayers, because it draws all our scattered human energies, mind, lips, and fingertips, into a single, unifying purpose. To those who find prayer difficult, the rhythmic movement of the fingers induces spiritual thoughts. To those who are used to mental prayer, the spiritual gains a new dimension when it spills over into the body and comes out on the tips of the fingers.”
-Venerable Archbishop Fulton Sheen

"Today, together we confirm that the Holy Rosary is not a pious practice banished to the past, like prayers of other times thought of with nostalgia. Instead, the Rosary is experiencing a new Springtime. Without a doubt, this is one of the most eloquent signs of love that the young generation nourish for Jesus and his Mother, Mary. In the current world, so dispersive, this prayer helps to put Christ at the center, as the Virgin did, who meditated within all that was said about her Son, and also what he did and said. When reciting the Rosary, the important and meaningful moments of salvation history are relived. The various steps of Christ's mission are traced."
-Pope Benedict XVI

"The Rosary is the prayer dearest to Mary, most loved by the Saints, most frequently used by Christian peoples, most honoured by God with astounding wonders, most enriched with great promises, by the Virgin...Whoever spreads the Rosary is Saved."
-Blessed Bartolo Longo

“Mary joins us, she fights at our side. She supports Christians in the fight against the forces of evil. Especially through prayer, through the rosary."
-Pope Francis

“Never will anyone who says his Rosary every day be led astray. This is a statement that I would gladly sign with my blood.”
-St. Louis de Montfort

"The Rosary is my favorite prayer. A marvelous prayer! Marvelous in its simplicity and its depth. In the prayer we repeat many times the words that the Virgin Mary heard from the Archangel, and from her kinswoman Elizabeth."
-St. John Paul the Great

"Some people are so foolish that they think they can go through life without the help of the Blessed Mother. Love the Madonna and pray the rosary, for her Rosary is the weapon against the evils of the world today. All graces given by God pass through the Blessed Mother."
-St. Padre Pio

"There is no problem, I tell you, no matter how difficult it is, that we cannot solve by the prayer of the Holy Rosary."
-Sister Lucia, one of the seers of Fatima

Happy Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary! Pope St. Pius V led a rosary procession on October 5, 1571 that led to the Christian naval fleet defeating the Turkish fleet at the Battle of Lepanto. He called the Feast Our Lady of Victory, which Pope Gregory XIII changed to the Feast of the Holy Rosary in 1573.

“When you say your Rosary, the angels rejoice, the Blessed Trinity delights in it, my Son finds joy in it too, and I myself am happier than you can possibly guess. After the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, there is nothing in the Church that I love as much as the Rosary.”
-Our Lady to Blessed Alan de la Roche

“The greatest method of praying is to pray the Rosary.”
-St. Francis de Sales

“The Rosary is the most beautiful and the most rich in graces of all prayers; it is the prayer that touches most the Heart of the Mother of God…and if you wish peace to reign in your homes, recite the family Rosary.”
-Pope St. Pius X
