What's happening on this Wednesday for you? My mom and I are going to visit my Dad's grave and do a little upkeep on it. The weather is beautiful, my gardens are growing well, and yes I will end the day with some good books. 😁 I hope your day is smooth sailing!

It's been a crafty week for me! I don't have any outdoor patriotic decor, so I decided to make red white and blue plant pokes for my large front flower pots. Jumbo popsicle sticks, outdoor acrylic paint, a mix of hot glue and E 6000 glue, and some dowels. These were fun! Have lots of clothes pins on hand to hold it together while the glue dries.  Painters, tape too! I'm spraying them with a clear sealant before I stick them outside later this week. Stay tuned for the big reveal in a few days! I'm also making a pillow cover. Is anyone else crafting for America's birthday?

I'm having a lot of fun decorating inside and out for America's 250th birthday this summer. As someone who loves American history, this is an exciting time! I'm gathering things to decorate our front porch as well as making a few things for the house and yard. Do you plan to decorate with a patriotic theme this summer?

Glory! Freshly picked beets from the garden made our mouths so happy tonight! I recently saw that a bunch of three beets at the grocery store was $2.99. I picked three beets from my garden today that cost me pennies, and they were so big they will make two meals for us. They taste like candy when they are fresh from the garden! I put some kale and beet greens in our chicken dish and made hand salads from our lettuce. Feeling like Little Mom on the Prairie tonight! 😁  Oh and the dinner flowers…I grew those too. 😂

Cake! It's one of my favorite desserts. I made this cinnamon swirl cake recipe many times when our children were younger. You can make it in a jelly roll pan to feed many. Or in a 9 x 13 for just your family. I made this in a Bundt pan for my mother's recent birthday. It is so incredibly moist and only needs a glaze for icing. You can serve it as a coffee cake or as a dessert. My husband said I could make this anytime I want! 🙂 What kind of cake do you like to make?

💛 Sleeping in on a Saturday...a rare treat for me! I'll be home today cleaning house, doing laundry, and preparing to teach preschool Sunday School. Here are my Missouri Primrose flowers, showing off nicely this year! I've had this stand of flowers for 28 years! This is the 3rd home I've planted them at. They are heirlooms to me. Enjoy! 💛
