Wear the colors proudly. The fire service is an honorable profession with a long history of service to our fellow man/woman/child. We don’t need our own to ridicule the service by wearing clothing or identification that tries to make it out like we are better than anyone else. I hope that we would demonstrate pride in our appearance by being appropriately groomed daily and wearing clothing that is tasteful. If we are wearing clothing that identifies us as a member of fire department make sure the uniform is clean. Pride in our ability to handle situations we are dispatched to, pride in our knowledge and pride in the uniform are traits every firefighter should demonstrate. Invest in yourself. Eat well. Behave well. Make sure the language you use and the tone and level of your voice is appropriate. There are some things in others that you cannot change but you can set the example that they will want to follow. Very few of our neighbors can handle what we have agreed to do everyday. JMB
