This is the question that Jesus is asking every single one of us, “who do you say I am?” Who is Jesus to YOU? Ultimately Jesus desires for all of us to have the same response as Peter, that He is the Christ, the son of God, seated high on the throne, and the Lord of our lives.

In this Christmas season, don’t forget who Jesus truly is. Despite who others may say He is, Jesus desires for us to know Him personally so that we can come to the same conclusion that Peter did, and unashamedly profess His Kingship and Lordship.🙌🏼

Jesus is truly the Ultimate Gift. He invites us to become a part of His family and is always willing to give us what we need. He’s a family member who is near, trustworthy, and one you can depend on to consistently show up when you call Him.

In Luke 8:43-48 The woman’s touch is not what healed her, it was her faith and her sure belief in the power of Jesus. She believed Him to be so Great and Mighty, that she knew all she needed was simply to touch Him to obtain the healing she had longed for 12 years.

There are so many wonderful gifts waiting for your faith to open them! Believe boldly, just as the woman with the issue of blood did, and watch God exceed your expectations. I encourage you to be of good cheer this holiday! Rejoice, because of what your faith will produce! Your belief in Christ will lead to you being identified, made whole, and filled with a peace that is otherworldly. Thank God for JESUS!

Jesus teaches us in this passage that we, as believers are called to go beyond ordinary and become extraordinary when it comes to loving, doing good, and giving in regards to others.
Is it not easy to love when you are loved well? To give when you are close to someone? To have compassion on close friends and family? In these scriptures Jesus points out that loving people who love us, doing good to those who treat us well, and lending when repayment is guaranteed are forms of goodness that anyone can do; even sinners. These actions don’t require a transformed heart; they are the ordinary kindness found in humanity.

Jesus uses this passage to show that His followers are called to a higher standard of love; one that goes beyond natural reciprocity.
1 John 4:19 says WE love because HE first loved us. He exemplified this love on the cross. There is another scripture that says “He died for us while we were YET sinners. We can think about our lives, our past decisions, our darkest days and secrets; and Jesus still chooses us.
It checks us! Who are we to not extend that same grace, mercy, and compassion?

In the start of Luke 5 Jesus is
being pressed by a crowd of
people after healing and setting people free from
demonic possession. Like a great teacher, Jesus uses this moment and begins to teach.

After Jesus was finished He asked Peter to let down his net.
Now Peter and the other fishermen
had tried catching fish all
night and was probably
exhausted and disappointed.
Peter may have even doubted
that letting his net down again
was going to work! What was going to be different THIS time?! But he did it anyway simply because
Jesus asked. Jesus blessed
Peter’s choice to oblige him
even in his doubt. Peter ended
up with a catch so large that
he didn’t have enough room in
his boat or man power to
receive it! Peter had to call for
help and even THAT wasn’t
enough!

Peter recognized Jesus
wasn’t just any teacher and
that not only were Jesus’
words life giving but that that
His blessings were abundant.
It was here that Peter
began to truly see who Jesus
was and in seeing, even just a
GLIMPSE of who Jesus was;
Peter recognized his OWN
failures, shortcomings and
sin.

Peter’s first instinct was to
separate himself from Jesus
as he felt unworthy of his
presence but Jesus had a
different plan. Jesus instead
extended an invitation to
Peter and his partners nearby
who still stood in awe of the
miracle they had just
witnessed. Jesus tells Peter
“Do not be afraid. From now
on you will catch men.”
An invitation to tell others
about who Jesus TRULY is!

Jesus stands firm in the face of Satan’s temptation; refusing to manipulate God for personal proof, protection, or validation. Jesus models a faith that doesn’t demand signs to trust God’s goodness. In our walk, we’re often tempted to put God on trial: “If You love me, fix this… prove Yourself by doing etc…” But Jesus shows us that mature faith rests on God’s character, not on conditional bargains. True trust doesn’t require God to perform; it believes because of who He is.

This verse also reminds us that spiritual battles are often subtle. Satan quoted Scripture, but he twisted it. Jesus responded with Scripture rightly applied. When we’re tired, frustrated, or feeling pressure to “make something happen,” we must anchor ourselves in God’s Word instead of our emotions. Walking with God means obeying even when it’s inconvenient and trusting even when nothing spectacular happens. Faith that refuses to test God is the faith that ultimately overcomes every temptation.
