We've occasionally been referred to as, "A world class club putting on world class events." We host three races a year, one in May, June, and September. The June race, Annual Little Thunder Regatta, held in the past one week prior to the once popular Thunder On The Ohio, is the most popular of the races. The June race also use to be the official opening event for the Freedom Festival. This race no
rmally always provides fantastic weather with some seriously high speed racing action with speeds of some boats pushing the 90+ mph mark. The September race sometimes brings the 11 race, District High Points Championship to a close. Some of the other cities that host races through out the season are Celina, OH, Sellersburg, IN, Madison, IN, Starlight, IN, and Hobart, IN. Now as in any form of racing, there is a sanctioning body providing our insurance and general rules of competition. That sanctioning body is the I.M.P.B.A. (International Model Power Boat Association). Established in 1949, they oversee all of the US and Canada, that is split up into 14 Districts with many, many clubs among those districts. Anyone wanting to race must be a member of the IMPBA. Every year, normally held in a different location somewhere across the US during the months of July or August, is an Annual one time event called The IMPBA International Regatta. For this event, competitors come from near and far because this is the one that determines the National Championship. The Internats has been held here on three different occasions, 2002, 2006, and 2008 but never officially hosted by RCRC. This year, we were proud to announce, Evansville will once again be the site and this time, officially hosted by the hometown club. I hope this brief insight into the world of model power boat racing excites you enough to bring the family out and enjoy a great day of racing. If what you've read ain't enough for an adrenaline rush, I dare ya to come to one of our events. YOU WON'T ESCAPE THE RUSH WHEN THEY HIT THE WATER AND THE CLOCK TICKS TO ZERO!!!
