This spicy girl is cleared to proceed with her daily shenanigans!

Gertrude was born with a congenital heart defect called pulmonic stenosis, and when she was about three months old, she was diagnosed with a very severe case of it that was going to be life limiting.

After consulting with multiple specialists, we decided to travel across Washington to undergo a procedure at that would give her a second chance at living a normal life. 😊

We were so fortunate to be supported by family, friends, and our community to be able to make it happen. Unfortunately no treatment tied to her "preexisting" condition is covered by her insurance even though we had her insurance before we brought her home from the rescue. Don't get me started... 🫠

We knew we were taking a risk but fortunately, her doctors were amazing, and the surgery was extremely successful. Her condition was brought down to the "mild" range which basically means she can now live a normal lifestyle and lifespan.

Every day Gertrude continues to take heart meds and every year she goes in for an echocardiogram.

It's been about 2 years since her surgery and she is doing great. Today she had her annual echo, and other than sh*tting herself at the vet, everything came back clear.

So happy this spicy little meatball can continue living life to the fulleat despite having a broken heart. ❤️‍🩹

If you have ever spent more than 15 mins with D & G, you know how mischievous they can be.

Most of the time, they use their skills for good, but on occasion our training sessions backfire. These are a few examples. 😆
