Palmer House is proud to announce our first cassette release: “HAUNTS” the debut EP from Everett, WA musician Brad Heyne, aka FUNERALHOMES.
Heyne, who also plays in the popular Everett group, Tellers, began to write the FUNERALHOMES songs after his life shattered. Some years ago, he went through a difficult breakup. Alone, he drove from Washington down the California coastline, immersing himself in the gauzy early summer skies and the transcendent views onward. He found solace in the happily decaying dive bars of California’s nouveau Americana. So, later, as he began to write music again, the songs came out like digital pulp novels.
Together, the record is a compact version of the drive southbound along the Pacific. There are soundscapes like orange and purple sunsets, lyrics like questions and conversations one might have after stopping to fill up on coffee and gasoline. There are names like Morro Bay and Santa Cruz. There’s reminiscing and hope. It’s a postcard from Heyne to you, filtered through his journey back home again.
A limited number of “HAUNTS” cassettes will be available at the release show on 10/23 in downtown Everett, or mail order via our Bandcamp page.
