🫎 Moose Rut Season — Give Them Space!

Fall is an incredible time to be outdoors, but it’s also moose rut season, when bulls are competing for mates and can be much more unpredictable and aggressive than usual. A moose may look calm, but don’t let its size or slow movements fool you—they’re powerful, fast, and deserve plenty of room.

If you encounter a moose, keep your distance, never approach for a photo, keep dogs leashed and well away, and always give the animal an escape route. If a moose pins its ears back, raises the hair along its neck, lowers its head, or starts moving toward you, back away and put a large tree, vehicle, or other solid object between you and the animal.

Enjoy the rut from a distance, respect the wildlife, and remember: we’re visitors in their territory.
