TODAY IS THE DAY! The Arctic Research Open House takes place on Thursday, May 15, 2025 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. across UAF’s West Ridge. You will find us outside on the lawn at #6 on the map and inside Murie Auditorium #8 on the map. Make sure you stop by; this is not an event you want to miss.

The Arctic Research Open House is a UAF-wide event that invites the community to explore how science, art, and culture intersect in Alaska’s unique environment. Among the many activities across campus, the College of Liberal Arts is offering a dynamic lineup of experiences that showcase the human side of Arctic research. From unearthing ancient artifacts in the Archaeology Experience, to discovering the cultural significance of mushrooms at the Mushroom Cultures and Cultivation Expo, to learning the beauty and craft behind traditional fly fishing in the Art of Fly Fishing Immersion, CLA’s contributions connect Alaska’s landscapes, traditions, and stories to visitors of all ages. Inside the Murie Auditorium, guests can also experience Alaska Stories on Screen—a showcase of short films created by Alaska Native and local filmmakers through UAF’s FRAME Film Production Services. Whether you’re curious about the past, passionate about the environment, or simply looking for a fun, educational outing, CLA’s activities at the Arctic Research Open House invite you to engage with the rich cultural and ecological heritage of Alaska.

Check out our website for more details about all our awesome activities this afternoon: https://www.uaf.edu/cla/news/2025/film-culture-and-curiosity.php

Film Club, Ground Squirrel Improv, and the Student Drama Association humbly present the Film and Performing Arts Weekend, a culmination of a year's worth of original film and performing arts by students. These three events take place from Thursday, April 17th - Saturday, April 19th; we are honored to share this weekend with many events on campus, from SpringFest to Choir, and we hope you get to explore a little bit of all the goings on.
FLPA Weekend kicks off tonight with Ground Squirrel Improv, beginning at 7pm in the Salisbury Theatre on campus. Free, but donations are gladly accepted.
