The Compton-born rapper is funding a 150-unit transitional housing project with 300 shelter beds as part of a grassroots initiative to combat homelessness in South LA.

“Growing up, I saw people lose everything right outside my window,” Kendrick said at a community event. “I told myself, if I ever made it, I’d make sure I didn’t forget the people still fighting to survive.”
