This is going to wrap up my summer night hunting as thermal season goes out in a few days. I was spending more time trying to locate fields without crops then I was coyotes lately & it was starting to feel like work with the ticks, mosquitoes, & mini heat strokes hiking into spots 😅.

My goal for this year was 50 yotes. This male here was #57 CONFIRMED kills for 2026. I’ve still got December but overall I’m proud and just couldn’t be happier with the hunting I’ve had this year. So many awesome experiences. I’ve started to say I’m retiring deer hunting and just moving to a full time coyote hunter but we will see if that holds true.

PSA: 223 will NOT shoot through wheat. It will also not shoot without a round chambered… Good thing I’ve that natural dog in me & threw out some barks to get that quick follow ups 😆

I must’ve been nervous since it was my first partner hunt in awhile. Please disregard his r***e be off by a couple feet & the rainbow from the subsonic’s. As bad as things went we still smashed a double. Had the X24 back up and going and used my mouth diaphragm to go back and forth against the call. Called in at least 5 coyotes within an hour straight of calling but the visibility was about as bad as it gets. I just kept howling and throwing out super aggressive fights then occasionally burst of prey. Then would start howling again and they kept responding & coming in. Probably should’ve stopped as I educated 3 but didn’t have the willpower when they are still committing.

Knocked the dust off the ol thermals and put the smack down 5 coyotes last night on some new property I was recently given permission on.

The thought crossed my mind of trying to hunt a turkey, few seconds went by and I was walking out with my X24 & the ol 12 gauge… Can’t say the thought of a turkey crossed my mind again! Haha

Called this pair in after hitting Sexy Lil B howl followed up with Boone lone whine howls. They came into the field and hung up probably could see me it was bright and I was in the open. I switched to broke pups & drug them in as close as they was going to come.

As Zachary Dillon likes to say, I folded that first male like a napkin then on I’m assuming the female I held right because I had a strong cross wind & I thought she probably had run about 100 yards so putting her at about 300 yards away I figured my bullet would’ve drifted over and been right on the money but unfortunately that wasn’t the case and she slipped away. Not upset I done exactly what I was thinking in my head it just didn’t connect I would’ve taken the same shot if I went back and done it again. If you ain’t missing some you ain’t hunting enough in my book lol
