THE SKY IS DOING THE MOST
And no, I don’t mean that metaphorically.
Wednesday brings a New Moon in Leo, a solar eclipse, the Perseid meteor shower, a beautiful gathering of planets in the pre-dawn sky, and Mercury s*xtile Uranus.
There is A LOT happening above us, so let’s talk about what it means., astronomically, astrologically, and spiritually.First, an important distinction: not everyone will experience totality.
A total solar eclipse occurs for observers located within the narrow path of totality, where the Moon completely covers the Sun. On August 12, that path crosses parts of Greenland, Iceland, Spain, Russia and Portugal. Much larger portions of Europe, northern North America and parts of Africa will experience a partial solar eclipse, where only part of the Sun is covered.Spiritually: eclipses have long been associated with disruption, revelation, endings, beginnings and things previously hidden coming into view.
And this one happens in Leo.
Leo rules themes of identity, visibility, creativity, confidence, courage, pleasure and taking up space. The Perseids also reach their peak around August 12–13, and because this happens near the New Moon, darker skies create especially favorable viewing conditions in many places.
For me, shooting stars symbolize movement, possibility, impermanence and wonder.
Something can disappear from your life without leaving you empty.Mercury, Jupiter, Mars, Uranus, Saturn and Neptune will appear spread across the pre-dawn sky around this time. Some will be visible more easily than others, while Uranus and Neptune require optical aid. They aren’t literally forming a perfect straight line in space. There is something beautiful about looking into one sky and seeing so many different planetary energies represented at once.
Spiritually, I see this as integration.Mercury represents communication, thinking, information and perception.
Uranus represents disruption, innovation, awakening, freedom and the unexpected.
When they form a supportive s*xtile, astrology associates it with breakthrough thinking, unexpected conversations, new perspectives and sudden realizations.
