While management of the local paper has changed hands over the years, the paper has consistently delivered local news to members of the Fairfax community. We at The Fairfax News firmly believe a community newspaper is essential to fostering a close-knit community. In 2001, Chris Santee purchased The Fairfax News and has been managing the day to day operations of the paper since. Chris has been an active member of the community since arriving to Fairfax in the 1980's.

SUMMARY OF CRASH:
State Police and local fire and EMS personnel responded to this two-vehicle motor vehicle crash which occurred on Main St. in the town of Fairfax, a short distance north of Fisher Road. Investigation into this incident revealed that both vehicles were traveling NB, vehicle #2 ahead of vehicle #1. At the time there was reported to be a heavy downpour which compromised road conditions and visibility. As vehicle #2 slowed down and was attempting to turn into residence # 148, vehicle #1, unable to slow down, rear-ended vehicle #2. Both vehicles were towed from the scene.

VIOLATION: Larceny from Motor Vehicle


SUMMARY OF INCIDENT:

On 6/16/25 the Vermont State Police St. Albans Barracks received multiple reports of thefts from motor vehicles in the area of Summit View St and Main St in Fairfax. It was determined that these thefts occurred overnight around 0230 hours on 6/16/25. One residence had home security cameras and captured a theft on video. A still photo of one of the suspects is attached to this release. The vehicles involved appear to have been unlocked.

Anyone with information about these thefts is encouraged to call the Vermont State Police St. Albans Barracks at 802-524-5993.

On 06/13/2025, at approximately 2315 hours, the Vermont State Police was notified of a runaway juvenile, identified as Elizabeth Souliere, 15, of Barton. Elizabeth was last seen around 1 PM on 06/13/2025. Elizabth is descried to be 5’9”, tan skin complexion, approximately 140 lb.’s, long black hair, brown eyes, and was last seen wearing plant printed black leggings and was wearing a backpack containing additional clothing. Anyone with information that might help investigators in locating Elizabeth is asked to call the Vermont State Police in Derby at 802-334-8881.
