For our final IN BETWEEN SPACES contributor highlight, we’re featuring Kaleigh O'Keefe! Kaleigh O’Keefe (they/them) is a gender outlaw and proud union member living in Dorchester, Massachusetts. Their poetry has appeared in Breaking The Chains Magazine, Kissing Dynamite, Button Poetry, and on Ceschi Ramos' album Sans Soleil. Kaleigh is a contributor and editor for Liberation News, co-founder of Game Over Books, and host of First Fridays Open Mic. Find them on Twitter.

Today, we’re highlighting IN BETWEEN SPACES contributor Kimberly Jae! Kimberly Jae is a slam poet, author, educator disabled Aphasic named one of the top 30 slam poets in the world by PSI in 2018. She has been awarded multiple fellowships, won slam competitions in multiple countries, has published in print in the US & CA, online & video. Her full-length manuscript, Baptism, was shortlisted for the 2021 Sexton Prize. In addition to other forthcoming published work, her chapbook P***y Poems is due on Tofu Ink Arts Press in 2022.

As we enter 2023, we’re coming down to our final few IN BETWEEN SPACES contributor profiles. Today, we’re highlighting Chisom Okafor! Chisom Okafor, Nigerian poet and clinical nutritionist, has been nominated for the Brunel International African Poetry Prize, Sillerman First Book Prize for African Poets, the Gerald Kraak Prize and Pushcart Prize. He presently works as editor for the Libretto Chapbook Series.

We’re keeping our IN BETWEEN SPACES highlights going today with Tessa Weber! Tessa loves all things literary and dogs. She is originally from a suburb of Minneapolis, Minnesota, and currently lives in the Boston, Massachusetts, area. She graduated with her Master of Arts degree in English from the University of Massachusetts Boston. She takes care of patients during the day, writes, and walks her dogs in her free time. Today, we’re featuring Anesce Dremenmen for our IN BETWEEN SPACES contributor highlight! Photo by Balvinder Singh.
Anesce Dremen is a U.S. travel writer often found with a tea cup in hand, traveling between the U.S., China, and India. A first generation college student, Anesce studied in China as a Critical Language Scholarship and Gilman scholar. She is a 2022 Fulbright-Nehru ETA in India.

We’re delighted to feature Anesce’s piece “Hairline Movement” in this anthology. This essay explores Anesce’s experience with using massage to manage her chronic pain from TMJD.

Crockford is an autistic/ADHD poet whose work has been featured in Vastarien, Wilde Boy, Better than Starbucks, and Vast Chasm among others. He lives in Philadelphia with his cat Wally but has been all over. You can find more of his work at cmcrockford.com.

Thanks all for your patience as we took a brief hiatus from our IN BETWEEN SPACES contributor highlights. We’re back today with Vanessa Garza! Vanessa (she/her) is a survivor of a rare neurovascular malformation (brain AVM), which led to multiple brain surgeries, epilepsy, a deficit in the left superior field of both eyes, and moderate deafness, which requires dual hearing devices.
She holds a BBA in Finance and Government from the University of Notre Dame, worked in the corporate arena, and wore business suits to work every day for nearly 15 years, up to her diagnosis. She transitioned from consultant to essayist, pursuing a passion for writing, when she didn't die from her trauma. In 2021, Vanessa graduated from Grub Hub's Intensive Essay Incubator Program, where she learned to hone her craft. A South Texas native, she currently lives in Boston with her family.

Her writing explores relationships and identity through disability and immigrant experiences. Today we’re highlighting IN BETWEEN SPACES contributor Zan Bockes! Zan earned an MFA in Creative Writing from the University of Montana. Her work appears in numerous publications, and she has had four Pushcart Prize nominations. Her two poetry collections, CAUGHT IN PASSING and ALIBI FOR STOLEN LIGHT, appeared in 2013 and 2018.
