Fijian-born Shika Raju has become the first woman from the Pacific to make it to the top of Mount Everest 🗻

She made her ascent late last month and joked that coming from the Pacific Islands, she should have been more interested in swimming or playing rugby.

"I'm probably not what people imagine when they think of an Everest climber... I lived in Suva until I was eight years old, so when I came here, mountains were never a thing for us. Coming from an island, I should be swimming or something like that, or playing rugby.

"But then I somehow got into mountaineering. It started off being an endurance athlete, I started doing marathons... and then pursued mountaineering and fell in love with mountaineering."

new chapter in rugby league! The Fiji National Rugby League (FNRL) and Fiji Broadcasting Corporation have officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding to bring coverage of Fiji Secondary Schools Rugby League to audiences across Fiji and the Pacific

FNRL Executive Chairman Rajesh Singh, who recently featured on our welcomed the partnership and acknowledged FBC’s ongoing support of rugby league development and school sports over the years. His message continues to champion stronger pathways and renewed belief in Fiji’s young players.
