Suisun Valley Review The Suisun Valley Review (SVR) is a literary magazine put together and run by the students of Solano and abroad.

The Suisun Valley Review (SVR) is a long-running and prestigious Solano Community College (SCC) literary tradition, most recently awarded second-place in the Pacific-Western Division by the Community College Humanities Association. Accepting submissions from first-time contributors and published authors/artists alike, for the past thirty-four years, SVR has reviewed works of both literature and ar

t. The combined focus of SVR’s editors have worked to ensure that, of those submissions, no preference is given to a specific style or genre. Although works from students of Solano Community College are encouraged, attendance is not a requirement for submission. The Suisun Valley Review was established as a way for the students of Solano Community College to learn the art and craft of editing a literary journal while and by putting together their own magazine. SVR relies on the willingness of literary and artistic communities to submit their own work for publication. Without that willingness, and without submissions from the community, the Suisun Valley Review’s success wouldn’t be possible. Since its first publication in 1981, student editors have collaborated on a total of thirty-one issues of SVR, carefully selecting the contents of each iteration from the submissions of new and established writers from across the U.S. These same student editors are also, year after year, charged with the task of creating the overall design aesthetic and narrative of each issue. Each spring, all of this hard work and endless creative energy is repaid with a bound collection of prose and poetry, sold, and kept as a testament to sleepless nights. Upcoming: Suisun Valley Review Release Reading!
Mark your calendars for Thursday, May 15, from Noon to 2 PM in the SCC Library for the release reading of the 41st issue of Suisun Valley Review!
This special event will feature:
• New art, poetry, and short fiction from talented contributors
• New work from poet Suzanne Bruce
• The announcement of the Quinton Duval Award in Creative Writing (awarded to one SCC student)
• The winners of the Solano Library Teen Writing Contest
