I only got two photos but have to share what we did last night!

We had a “Penelope Presents” night.

What was that? Well, I’ll tell you!

Both sets of grandparents were invited to a special evening in our home.

My daughter played three songs on the piano (that she has been practicing for a month).

Then she practiced her presentation skills by telling everyone about what she’s currently learning in our homeschool.

This was followed by dinner, dessert and a family game.

Her and I worked together to carefully select what she wanted to present and practiced what she could say.

She was very nervous, but ended up doing great! We plan to do these once a semester.

It helped her teach herself how to get comfortable presenting (she chose to start with what she felt she knew the best).

It gave her confidence.

It allowed her to “teach” some of her own material which helps lock that info in the brain.

It showcased our accomplishments and taught our non-homeschooled parents / grandparents what she’s truly learning in homeschool.

This past week, my daughter completed a “Future Entrepreneur Camp.” She is a 5 year old who was invited to participate in this camp for 7-10 year olds. (Proud mom moment). 😊

But what they did was GREAT!

It was a four day camp where they:

💗 Learned about charities and chose one to support.
💰 Learned budgeting and went shopping for supplies.
🔈 marketed themselves by making posters and hanging them around town
⚒️ built their very own lemonade stand with their hands.
🏦 went to the bank and learned to interact with the tellers and how to make change.
🍋 made their own product
🔆 set up and tear/down of their lemonade stand and needed supplies
💼 sales and interactions with customers. Serving, and cashiering.
🧢 wearing multiple hats and doing different jobs.
😅 hard work and patience
📈 profitability
🎁 philanthropy

It was fun to see them in action.

👩‍🏫 We started outsourcing Spanish lessons.

🚗 Once a week, I take my daughter to a separate location (away from home) where she learns Spanish from someone who is NOT me.

We’re three weeks in and I am LOVING it.

This is one way education showed up on our recent family vacation. My 5 year old engaged in this 3 hour immersive pasta making experience and loved every second of it. So much so, that we came home and bought all the pasta making equipment and have been teaching our friends and family.

I will ALWAYS be a firm believer in education through travel. They are exposed to so much that expands their minds and alters their way of thinking and coming up with new ideas.

This little adventure was great! It was fun for my husband and I as well as our 5 year old daughter. After the steps at the beginning, it is any easy walk to the domes, complete with rivers, mini waterfalls (if raining), and a swinging bridge!

The museum adds a great hands-on educational component for littles also!

I would definitely recommend this as a stop on a roadtrip! This wasn’t our final destination, but definitely an awesome spot to check out on the way!
