The complaint: A 2012 Ram 3500 with a 6.7 liter diesel engine and a 4×4 AS68RC transmission has a complaint of transmission fluid leaking from the transfer case vent. The transfer case was found to be over-full and the transmission fluid level was low.

The 10L series has seen substantial changes over the years. For instance, with the 10L1000 and those Gen. 2 units, there was a different clutch application, no latch valves and a few other new features.

When the vehicle was checked for codes, the following DTCs were set:

P0756: Shift Solenoid “B” Performance
P0766: Shift Solenoid “D” Performance
P0868: Low Line Pressure”
P02701: Friction Element “B” Apply Time
P2703: Friction Element “B” Apply Time

Believe it or not, these codes are pointing to the cause of this transmission being stuck in Park.

After a severe storm soaked its town, a 2006 Volvo S80 arrived at the local shop with a troubling list of symptoms: failure to start, erratic drivability, a whining noise, and enough dashboard warnings to light up Times Square. The customer mentioned that the car had sat in roughly seven inches of water—never a good omen for any modern vehicle. As with every car that rolls into our shop needing an evaluation, I grabbed my scan tool and documentation and headed out to begin the process.

Here's what the techs found:

The Ram ProMaster using the 62TE transmission is known for a common issue with water damage throughout the engine compartment. This is due to the design of the vehicle.
