What is waiting on me at bed time .
As these guys find there forever homes I will slowly get my bed back .
There 16 weeks and I’ve rehomed 1 . 2 more will be leaving soon . But instead of just letting them go to any home. I backed off and started training . I’ve spent months now exposing them to everything . Belgian Malinios are intelligent dogs who get bored easy .
Because the dog has become more popular over the years . Especially when people on social media see our law enforcement and military with Malinois and Shepherds suddenly everyone wants one .
Yet shepherd and Malinois are always in shelters both kill and non kill.
As a person who has saved hundreds of animals of many types .
It is my responsibility to make sure these guys have the best foundation possible going into a new home .
I have worked very hard and know each dog’s personality. So knowing what people’s lifestyle is like will be easier to pair up each dog .
Since they have had training and exposure to other people, kids, dogs, chickens and ducks this will help them greatly with there new homes .
They are high energetic dogs, they need to be walked /Ran 2 times a day .
Or a secure backyard with plenty of of room to run.
These dogs are not made to be in apartments or in areas with no yard .
They are not made to be locked into kennels 8+ hours a day .
Malinois end up becoming damaged because of the owners not the dog .
As sick as I am on top of working, caring for all these animals and training 9 Belgian Malinios at once . I find it hard to believe owners can’t handle 1 dog but it’s happening everyday .
People assume if a dog lays around all day it’s ok .
A healthy dog and mentally simulated dog will thrive .
A bored dog will find things to destroy and develop bad behavior .
These guys are still puppies they will chew if left u attended. So it’s my job to ensure they have what they need to redirect that attention to something healthier.
Nipping , biting is normal with Malinois they will out your arm n there mouth like a child would a pacifier .
Again redirecting behavior in a positive way will ensure the dog is well behaved .
Hollering at a dog , smacking at a dog , hitting a dog . Does nothing more then rile the dog up causing it to ignore your commands .
I can speak in a low voice to the boys and they listen .
Having your dog fear you is way different than respecting you .
When you can command your dog in a low tone without hollering you are doing it right .
I see people scream and chase after there dogs all the time . Picking up objects to scare the dog into stopping whatever they are doing .
It’s the same as a kid screaming doesn’t work it makes things worse .
With lots of Love , patience and a stable home and lots of structure . You will have one of the best dogs you will ever own .
