🗺️ Fiction Friday Prompt (Mystery / Suspense)

Overnight, an entire village disappears—houses, streets, even its name scrubbed from every map, GPS, and database.
No one else remembers it ever existed… except your main character.

They still remember the diner’s burnt coffee. The church bell at dusk. The shortcut behind the old mill.
But when they drive out there? Nothing. Just an empty stretch of land like it was never built.

Then the warnings start:

A photo on their phone glitches—faces blur, buildings smear.
Their journal entries rewrite themselves.
Friends insist they’ve “always lived in the city.”
And the scariest part: their memories begin to slip, one detail at a time.

Your character has 48 hours to uncover what happened to the vanished village—before their own mind becomes the next cover-up.

✍️ Write it as:

a small-town cold case with a conspiracy twist
a detective mystery with missing persons energy
a psychological thriller where memory is the enemy
a paranormal mystery where the land is “hungry”

💬 Drop your opening line or a 200-word excerpt in the comments.

Bonus: Include a “proof” item your character can’t explain (a receipt, a voicemail, a scar, a key—anything that shouldn’t exist).

🔥 Fiction Friday Prompt (Fantasy | Myth-Accurate Phoenix) 🔥

Once every 500 years, the phoenix returns to Heliopolis—the City of the Sun—carrying an egg of myrrh that holds the last of its former self.

Your character wasn’t supposed to witness the rite.
They weren’t supposed to touch the spices—the frankincense, the myrrh, the sun-warmed resin meant to cradle death into renewal.

But they did.

Now the phoenix has marked them with a searing sun-sigil, and the air smells like sacred smoke wherever they go. It doesn’t want revenge.

It wants balance.

Because the phoenix isn’t just a creature—it’s a cosmic contract, and your character has incurred a debt that can only be paid in one of three currencies:

🔥 Years.
🔥 Memory.
🔥 Soul.

Write a story where your character must outwit being born of flame and law—before the next sunrise seals the bargain forever.

Fiction Friday: The Passenger Who Wasn’t There 🌙🚗💀

It’s past midnight, and your character is driving home along an empty highway.

But when they glance in the rearview mirror… someone is sitting silently in the back seat—someone who wasn’t there a moment ago. 😶‍🌫️

Write a story where every mile takes them deeper into terror, and the only way out might be to keep driving.

Your scene must include:
🪞 The exact moment they realize they’re not alone
🛣️ A “point of no return” on the highway
📵 One thing they try that doesn’t work (phone, lights, stopping, speeding up…)
🗣️ The first thing the passenger says… or the fact they never speak at all

✅ Comment “DRIVE” if you’re writing this one

The Clue in the Wrong Pocket 🔍

Your character is sure they’ve gotten away with something…
until their fingers brush against a single, impossible object in their own pocket, what is it?

a receipt
a key
a photograph
or a note in someone else’s handwriting

Write today’s scene from their POV as they realize:
1️⃣ What the object is
2️⃣ Why it absolutely shouldn’t be in their possession
3️⃣ How it completely destroys the story they’ve been telling themselves (or everyone else)
