The holiday market is always jam-packed for associations and nonprofits, especially in the publication space.

It feels a bit like a mall parking lot on December 23rd in 2005, crowded, noisy, and full of brands competing for attention. With all that noise, a well-designed, well-timed ad that tugs on the holiday heart strings can be the thing that helps your brand a little more sparkly than the rest.

Timing is everything. Graphics should catch the eye, messaging should feel authentic, and your ad needs to land in that holiday “sweet spot.” Scheduling ads in the weeks leading up to the holidays, not after, ensures your brand isn’t lost in the post-wrapping-paper haze.

Design matters too. Clean visuals, clear calls to action, and messaging tailored to your audience are key. Think about it: during one commercial break in December, you probably see 47 ads (give or take). Which ones stay with you, and which disappear the second another holiday jingle rolls in? Thoughtful design and timing make all the difference.

Planning, timing, and ex*****on, done right, are what make holiday campaigns memorable, and it is the kind of work our publishing team handles every season with care.

Friday at 3 PM: Are you closing strong or closing your laptop?

Every association leader has their own end-of-week rhythm. Some are powering through one last proposal or member call. Others are reflecting on the week's wins and challenges. Then there are the strategic planners already mapping Monday's priorities, and those who've earned an early exit.

There's no right answer. How you wrap up your week often reflects how you lead and recharge.

Our amazing design team made their way to Grapevine, Texas this week for their annual strategic planning session and the multi-day Circles Conference. Every year we make sure our team gets the inspiration and skills they need to keep crushing it for the association community.

We've heard a great response from our design team members about the incredible lineup of speakers and workshop leaders covering everything from personal creative challenges that became major projects to down-to-earth stories about professional growth.

A few that really stood out so far:
Scott Fuller from Studio Temporary had everyone captivated with his emotional and inspiring journey, while Tad Carpenter's Sunday Suns project (creating sun art every single Sunday!) showed how personal challenges can turn into something amazing. Our team was so inspired they bought a sun as a keepsake! ☀️ And with so many great talks and hands-on sessions, there were insights around every corner.

Plus there's nothing like those "small world" moments when you bump into old friends.

These are the experiences that light the creative fire and spark those "aha!" moments. All so we can keep bringing fresh, innovative solutions to the associations we're lucky enough to work with.
