[FROMzine源] is looking for 2 ambitious interns with a keen interest in inter-cultural communication and journalism, especially in print magazine and social media. They must possess excellent people skills and a talent for producing crisp, concise work. Interns will be expected to possess a wide variety of interests as [FROMzine源] covers a wide spectrum of topics related to life in China/the U.S., including: arts, culture, sports, music, food, parties, events, lifestyles, etc.
The [FROMzine源] Internship promises to be a rewarding experience as interns will:
• Gain exposure to all aspects of both print and online publishing
• Gain familiarity with the publication cycle and the ability to demonstrate solid editorial judgment
• Achieve networking opportunities with professionals and the business community in the Washington DC area
• Graduate with a portfolio of bylines that will aid in future employment in the industry
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Proficiency in both Mandarin and English
• Basic writing experience on topics such as fashion, lifestyle and traveling would be a plus
• Staying up-to-date on most recent current events pertaining to China and the U.S., in particular those relating to cultural activities
• Familiarity with basic HTML, and other online content management systems
• An excellent command of grammar, spelling, punctuation and style
• Extremely detail-oriented, organized, able to work under deadlines
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Fact-checking, copy-editing of stories submitted by our team of freelance contributors
• Researching on the Internet
• Pitching of new story ideas, information summaries for events/fashion/cultures
• Conducting of interviews
• Translation of information summaries (Chinese-English and/or English-Chinese, as required)
The Internship will start on January 1st , 2015; the candidates should be able to commit a minimum of 20 hours per week for a minimum of three (3) months. Stipend will be provided accordingly, and bylines will be given for all original work posted.

FROM is the first major bilingual (English/Chinese) lifestyle publication based in the U.S. that focuses specifically on active lifestyles, culture, and travel in both the U.S. and China. It features informative content about exciting activities and interesting destinations in the two countries, as well as special features on events, cultural traditions, and practical travel information.
