I mentioned the Mid-Autumn Festival happening on October 6th coinciding with the Harvest SuperFull Moon. Here’s an interesting introduction on the Festival.

What is the Mid-Autumn Festival?

Traditionally celebrated on the 15th day of the 8th month in the lunar calendar, this year it coincides with Monday 6th of October on the Gregorian calendar.

The Mid-Autumn festival dates back to the Zhou Dynasty (1046 - 256 BCE), becoming more popular during the Tang Dynasty (618 - 907 CE). Although not a fixed date until the Song Dynasty (960 - 1279 CE).

During the festival, the mooncake is traditionally consumed. These Chinese bakery items are usually circular and can be filled with salted egg yolks, Lotus paste, or red bean paste. The mooncake symbolises completeness and togetherness, and the round mooncakes represent the harvest moon.

It's the time of the harvest moon, prosperity, family, and togetherness.
