🇺🇸 Have you ever wished you could speak to one of the nation's Founding Mothers?

📆 If so, then mark your calendar: Mercy Otis Warren, often described as the “muse of the revolution,” will be at the Jonathan Bourne Public Library on January 17 to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the American Revolution.

📝 Local history teacher and historical interpreter Michele Gabrielson, portraying Warren, will tell the story of how she rejected the conventional expectations of women in the 18th century and became the first female historian of the American Revolution, using her passion for poetry and prose to persuade others to join in the revolutionary cause.

💰 Sandwich’s property taxes are the fourth-highest on Cape Cod. Whenever they are sent out to residents, complaints start rolling in—on Facebook, in public meetings, and in conversation.

đźš« Much of the information out there, however, is incorrect or misleading, the town's Finance Director William Jennings and Director of Assessing Benjamin R. Styche say, and they want to clear the air.

🎭 The Knights Theatre Company (KTC) will open its fall production of “Alice in Wonderland” at 7 PM on Thursday, December 18, at Sandwich Middle High School. The production is the first under Director Anthony J. Teixeira, a KTC alum who filled the position after Kevin and Melinda Lasit left the program after 13 years earlier this fall.

🎟 The show—which involves about 80 students across its cast and technical crew—started rehearsals in October, which was later than usual due to finding its new director. Student Marty T. Mulroy, who plays the March Hare in the production, said rehearsals started with character work, stage blocking and scene transitions, and as opening night approaches, now involve technical work like lighting and sound.

📝 The Sandwich Select Board decided to approve the liquor license attached to the Captain's Seafood Restaurant, despite the building having burned to the ground in May.

🔑 The property is actively on the market, board member David J. Sampson said, with the liquor license attached to the listing.

👀 “We’ve talked about this before, but these licenses are [town] assets,” he said. “We have to keep a close eye on this.”
